About me
My name is Slavica, and icon painting is my path, my silence, and my prayer. What I do, I have never experienced solely as a job—but as a way of life and an inner calling.
My first encounter with icons was not just artistic, but profoundly spiritual. Since then, each new icon carries the same excitement and the same responsibility—to convey through colors what is invisible to the eyes, but close to the heart.
Over the years, I have had the blessing to participate in the painting of several churches. I worked on the frescoes of the Church of Saint Petka in Niš, the Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Jelašnica, the Church of Saint Prokopije in the village of Katun, as well as the Church of Saint Elijah in Knez Selo. I also participated in the work on the Church of Saint Nicholas in Niš and the Church of Saint Petka the Roman in Donji Matejevac.
Besides fresco painting, for many years I have been involved in icon painting of icons in various formats, which have found their way to believers, but were also part of sales at the Hilandar Monastery.
I deepened my knowledge through a three-year education in iconography in Thessaloniki, where I learned not only the technique but also the essence of this sacred art. I also had the opportunity to exhibit my works, both in Niš and abroad.
